PRE-THANKSGIVING AND GROUP PROJECTS
|
The Giving Heart has several projects to make this year's Thanksgiving
Feast a successful event. Please consider helping us with these
pre-Thanksgiving needs by filling out the form below. We'll get back
with you on specific details.
Turkey and Pie Collection
Our goal is to collect a total of 300 turkeys and 300 pies this year -
won't your group or church help? Items will need to be delivered to
the convention center (or to an alternative location) on Friday,
November 16th. Individuals are also welcome to contribute to this
need.
Hats, Gloves, Socks, Underwear
Please consider taking up a collection for hats, gloves, socks and
underwear. These are small items that are often needed by many who
come to the Thanksgiving Feast. We need all sizes - male, female, and
children! Extra large sizes are especially appreciated. We'll work with
you on how to get these items to our location.
Place Mats
Do you have children who would like to help with a community
project? We are hoping to eventually collect approximately 1200
laminated place mats and would love any quantity that you can offer to
us. This is a simple project that involves drawing on construction
paper and using clear contact paper to cover the paper afterwards.
Sign up for this project, indicate how many you can help with and we'll
get with you about delivery arrangements.
Food Site Helpers
We need 4-6 people per shift, to help at our 3 food collection sites on
Thursday, November 15th. A commitment of 3 hours is required.
Locations to be determined but will most likely involve Parham/Brook
Rd., Forest Avenue and Mechanicsville. Job involves accepting food
donations, sorting and packing it into a provided trailer.
Donation Loaders/Unloaders
We need help in loading and unloading our donation truck. Loading
will be done at our Rockville location (about 5 miles from either
Wyndham in the far West End or from the Rockville/Manakin exit of 64).
Unloading will be at the Richmond Convention Center. Tentative dates
are Wednesday, November 14th (loading), Friday, November 15th
(unloading) or Tuesday, November 19th (loading and unloading).
Food Baggers
We need people to help bag excess nonperishable foods to be
distributed during the Thanksgiving event or to be passed on to our
partner organizations - M.A.R.C.H. and Freedom House. Date needed:
Wednesday, November 21st between 10 am and 3 pm.
Decorating Helpers
Do you enjoy helping to decorate? Our decorating coordinator is in
search of those who would like to help with flower arranging or
centerpieces for our 100 tables. Some of this help can be done on
your own schedule at home. If interested in more details, contact us
on the form below.
